Athens, GA – Little Athens Children’s Museum set a new course on Monday, announcing a transition to new Executive Director Mallory Lind. A dedicated advocate for the arts, education, and accessibility, Lind brings a fresh vision to open Athen’s first children’s museum in Athens by Spring, 2024.
Lind earned a B.A. in Art History from UGA in 2013, an M.A. in Art Business from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 2015, and a recent Ph.D. in Art Education from UGA, specializing in museum education and accessibility, Mallory brings extensive qualifications to the position.
Having lived in Athens, GA since 2016, Mallory possesses a deep understanding of the local community and its unique needs. As the Assistant Curator of Education at the Georgia Museum of Art, Mallory strives to develop engaging programs, foster inclusivity and reach diverse audiences. Additionally, she teaches for Pennwest University’s fully online Master’s in Art Education program, empowering art teachers nationwide to create inclusive and culturally responsive curriculums.
Mallory’s dedication to accessibility is evident in her creation of tactile art reproductions for blind and visually impaired visitors. Her collaborations with renowned institutions such as the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Boise Art Museum, and the Georgia Museum of Art have made art more accessible and fostered inclusivity.
Joining Little Athens Children’s Museum, Mallory’s expertise perfectly aligns with the organization’s mission to provide an accessible, safe space for unstructured play. Her passion for inclusive art education, community engagement, and supporting the museum’s vision of interactive play will greatly enrich the lives of children and families in the Athens community.
Former Director Charlene Woodham Brickman will remain on the Board of Little Athens.
